Amazing by design. Tiny 12x zoom IXUS
12x zoom in tiny and stunning metal body
With a tiny metal body in an amazing finish the IXUS 500 HS packs a powerful 12x optical zoom extending to 21x with ZoomPlus. The huge zoom offers a wide range of shooting options and lets you get right up close to distant objects whether shooting stills or movies.
HS System: 10.1 MP CMOS
The HS System excels in low light so you can capture the real atmosphere of the scene without flash or tripod. Advanced DIGIC 5 processing and a high sensitivity 10.1 Megapixel CMOS sensor give excellent image quality in all situations.
Intelligent IS
Intelligent IS automatically adjusts the optical Image Stabilizer to the scene from 7 modes – counteracting movement to prevent blur and delivering sharp and detailed photos and movies at full zoom and in low light.
7.5 cm (3.0) PureColor II G LCD
A large high quality 460k dot LCD screen with excellent visibility allows easy framing and reviewing of images from any angle plus effortless menu navigation. A tempered glass outer layer gives excellent durability.
Full HD movies
Record superb Full HD (1080p) movies at 24fps with stereo sound and optical zoom. Intelligent IS keeps footage steady while filming even at full zoom. An HDMI connection ensures high quality playback on an HDTV.
Smart Auto (58 scenes)
Effortlessly shoot great photos or movies with Smart Auto which detects the scene and selects perfect settings from 58 variables. It also works with faces registered with Face ID and adapts shooting settings to the person’s age – for example turning off flash and sounds when a sleeping baby is detected or engaging continuous auto-focus when children over 2 years old are detected.
Face ID
Face ID lets you register up to 12 faces of family and friends so they are automatically the focusing priority in every shot and tags images with their names so they are easy to find in playback.
High-speed shooting
Never miss a moment. Capture fast-paced action with High-speed Burst or slow down fast movement with Super Slow Motion Movie. Handheld Night Scene combines a sequence of high-speed shots into one file to capture nightscapes without a tripod.
Movie Digest (720p)
Movie Digest records up to 4-seconds of action before each still shot joining the day’s clips into a bonus HD (720p) movie.
Optional waterproof case
Protect your camera outdoors and shoot underwater down to depths of 3m with an optional waterproof case.
