Today businesses expect much more from their multifunction peripherals. It is no longer enough for an MFP to be able to print copy and scan. In the modern enterprise MFPs are expected to sit at the heart of business workflows moving information between electronic and paper processes in a seamless unified workflow. To do this effectively office workers need to be able to scan documents into enterprise applications at point of use and add all the routing and indexing information needed to push them on to the next stage of the workflow. Samsung’s eXtensible Open Architecture (XOA) makes this possible. A powerful development platform based on open standards it fully integrates Samsung MFPs with software solutions giving walk-up users the ability to move information into and out of applications at the MFP’s touch-screen display. Historically printer manufacturers have adopted one of two strategies for software integration: embedding Java-based applications on the MFP itself or connecting the MFP to web services residing on a server. XOA supports both these approaches in a unified SDK development platform giving software developers complete flexibility when creating new applications or XOA-enabling existing ones.
